I have had a lot to think about over the last week about eye tracking and the types of tasks one would create with it. I spoke with a coworker at my work and in his 10+ year career and he stated that he had only used eye tracking one time. It seems that it has its uses but is not necessarily a go-to tool for usability testing. It is more for getting an in-depth perspective on usability issues rather than an initial test. My coworker stated that he had used it for testing forms and how the user navigated around them.
I’m glad I learned about eye tracking in this last segment but I am not sure how much use I will get out of it, especially since this was a two week unit. I guess I’m okay with it though, work/life balance and all that. See you in January.
